New MidTown Development

Unread post by LCpro » Thu Aug 10, 2017 11:30 am

I wanted to touch briefly on a few new developments in the MidTown area that are either just beginning or will soon as I haven't seen much about them here.

Glenview Place - This is the southeast corner of Glenview and Meridian Road(you look at it from Hoot's driveway). They just tore down that old "castle" looking house and they are going to build ten detached residences(was originally going to be 16 duplex style townhomes). That was an underutilized parcel ripe for redevelopment. Glad to see this.

Southeast corner of Monroe and Glenview - There is an old service station and some houses there now. This was purchased recently and they are doing 5,000 +/- SF of retail which will be three units. There is a sign up at the property now offering the space for lease. This will start to "clean up" that little corridor there. Now if something can be done with Barnacle Bills.....

North side of E. Tharpe Street - The property just east of the Shriners Temple was purchased to be developed with an assisted living facility. The site is currently improved with older residences in fair/poor condition and this will totally change what that street looks like. Those old houses were eye sores in that condition and this will also help with improving the eye appeal of that little area.

If anyone knows of any others, let me know what you got.

Thanks!

I thought at one point the Barnacle Bill people were talking about coming back after insurance was settled. Anyone heard anything about that?
