This is a high profile lot for sure, and honestly not the concept I'd hoped for here. I love student living but some spots are better suited for business, government, hospitality, banking... this is one of those spots IMO. That said, this company has built a property in Indianapolis that has some potential to look the part on this parcel. The Luxe on Capitol:

Caught me by surprise too, but the draft looks really nice - only wish I could post it. The living quarters are along the perimeter with parking in the center. Tampa and Orlando are trying to increase downtown densities by introducing university related housing and educational centers. Perphaps Tallahassee is ahead of the curve on this aspect. If this increase in density continues, I really believe more businesses will be coming to downtown.

Does anyone know why it says I don't have permission to view the attached photos?

Nope.  It is a small blue box with a question mark.  Does it rely on Flash or some other program?  I may have an out of date version of the program that is causing me to not be able to see the picture.

^No special program is needed. Years ago I put some safeguards in place to help us fight spambots. I think those safeguards also impact our new members. I will work to address it.

I hope you don't mind that I created a project page. I saw that you said it was public information now and I figured since its on here anyway it might as well be organized.

Agreed that this might not be the right spot, at least not right now, for student housing. But as FSU's College of Business plans to move closer to the Civic Center, and the Moran School opens downtown (with an admittedly small enrollment) this could become a better location for student housing. It's also in a relatively good spot for Law students.

Yes, and there's a map on the project page if it helps.

I thought Bethel wanted to build apartments for lower income families, not get in on the over priced student apartment game.

My guess is that Bethel is looking to sell or long-term ground lease the property for this project and is not looking to develop it themselves. The interest in building for lower income families may have shifted entirely to the Frenchtown Renaissance project. This parcel was actually purchased as the site of the proposed new church almost 15 years ago.

I think building on these whole block, gravel lot parcels is a blessing. That lot is currently so under utilized and an eye sore IMO. Build away!
