Does anyone have an idea of where the Aero Space center will be built?

Again... I must say GREAT website. I came here looking for more information on the projects going on between FSU and downtown and I found much more.

I noticed there were about three sets of townhomes or apartments under construction along St. Augustine street going into downtown from Stadium drive. Does anyone have additional information on these properties. I'm very interested.

Its great to see the Convention Center frames going up. It will be the addition I hoped for there. The frame from famu looks good. The roof may add a good bit more height too!

Over on campus today I spotted this little expansion project going on at the Soccer Complex:

A nice man on site told me that this will house some class rooms, office space for coaches and so forth.

That is a neat find! I love the indoor facilities planned over by the stadiums!!! What an awesome surprise this afternoon. The view of that beast from pens./stadium will be amazing to say the least.

West side of campus, growth continues! We just need a tall tower now, on the Copeland Ridge east side! 8-)

A tower... as in the Symphony/Village? Or something new.

Personally I like FSU's architectural style and the scaling of the structures they build. As I was out taking the pictures yesterday, I looked around and truly took in the change that Tallahassee has experienced these past 5 years... especially around FSU. Moreover, I noticed that the area around the Campus, those forgotten parts, are more attractive now in some funky kind of way. I truly think its the new townhome development along St. Augustine that has brought this into perspective for me. First it was Casa Mia, but with those other three projects and a few others planned, I really see this area booming by the time the Gaines Street work kicks into full force..

I want a tower like Austin... A symbol like wescott, tall enough to bee seen from the cameras during football games. It can bee a watchtower... with a light or torch that gets light for special occasions.

I have mentioned it before, somewhere ;) and i think someone other than students or government could pay for it.

Maybe I should doodle it on Sketch up some time...

FYI -- Upon completion of the new 1st District Court of Appeals in Southwood, FSU will obtain the current property for the College of Law.

The former Center for Civic Education (Building 296), an old white house, has been demolished. This is part of the "Wedge" on campus that will house the new College of Nursing and Student Health Center.

Sometime in the relatively near future, the International House (Building 107) will also be demolished to make room for Wildood 3 residence hall.

Construction of a new Facilities & Maintenance complex off Lake Bradford Road should also begin soon. The long term plan is to eliminate the current Mendenhall Maintenance Complex to allow further in-fill of classroom and core student services. This includes another HCB or two, and a new student union.

Conradi Building is destined for the wrecking ball to make way for Rovetta Business C.

Gunter Building: Geological Survety, DEP and friends are moving out soon. This building is also likely to see the wrecking ball in the future, given its location at the Main entrance.

And of course, the new indoor practice facility for Football.

Oh yeah, one more thing... Dorman and Deviney Halls are on their last legs. They have been deemed unworthy of renovation and will eventually get demolished.

Lots of good info there DaveFSU. I find the long term plan for Mendenhall particularly interesting, and it makes alot of sense too. Thank God Conradi will be gone sometime soon, being right there on a visible corner of campus.

I was on FloridaState's Section of Rivals.com over the weekend and I stumbled upon some pretty interesting information about future developments on campus. Someone noted that there are plans to tear down the current maintenance facilities on campus for future Classroom infill development, raze the old building next to Rovetta B (I think there's a science building there now) in order to prepare that site for Rovetta C (I do think there is a design already), and I believe I recall reading plans to make way for some sort of health care facility near Thaggard. I'll try to get back on there later this evening for more specific details.

Florida State administrators on Monday afternoon released a draft of proposed sweeping cutbacks at the university, based on current reductions in state revenue.

Twenty-one degree programs at FSU are in danger of being cut:
Anthropology
Apparel Design
Geophysical Fluid Dynamics
Geological Sciences
Molecular Biophysics
Oceanography
Hospitality & Golf Management
Physical Education
Science Education (College of Education)
Geography
Behavioral Psychology
Software Engineering
Art Education
Ceramics
Sculpture
Studio Art
Recreational Management
German
Slavic Languages
Demography
Art Administration

Additionally: The Panama City campus would close effective Jan. 1, 2010. And approximately 350 faculty members would be laid off.
Why is FSU hurting THIS bad?

Less tax dollars to go around, less funding.

Yes...the state has cut back on funding -- but to THIS extreme? Does anyone know the difference in funding this year as opposed to last year?

That's not an answer to the question though. I'm asking how much less is the state giving FSU vs. last year. I'd like to take it further. How much less is the state giving FSU vs. the past 5 years? Does anyone have a way to find that information?

Admittedly, I've not kept up with the forums lately...kinda slow. But if anyone thinks that losing this kind of money is anything but poor management I've got a bridge over a swamp in Monroe County to sell you.

If Leon County absorbs FSU cuts and state salary cuts you guys might as well put your servers of Urbantally on a thumb drive because there isn't going to be a soul here left to read the forums. I'm a state employee. If I take a pay cut of ANY size they will get my letter of resignation inside of sixty days.

Welcome back Toronoman! My apologies for the slow speeds (that's to all users). Until UrbanTallahassee can afford our own server, we're at the mercy of the shared remote server which is often unpredictable.

When you say poor management - are you blaming TK and Crew? If your pay is cut... even so slightly, where will you go? I imagine those who vacate jobs because of their pay being cut will probably find it hard to find a new poisition. My hope is that state employee pay is not cut, but if it is, I hope we're granted more time off of work. I don't truly believe anyone will be as productive if their pay is slashed.

Lets hope you don't have to write that letter!!

I would leave Tally. I've had enough of being second class in a town that just cannot understand economics.

I thought the cuts to state worker wages would only be those making something like 60K+... did I hear that right? I am never going to be a fan of pay cuts. But I sure hope that there might be a temporary decrease with promise of later reimbursement!

I cant imagine anyone trying to find a better job these days... Its scary!

Now it's down to $45k. And I can darn well guarantee you that there will be no pay increase to make it up later. We've not had a pay raise in five years. Five years ago things were very good and no pay raise. Four years ago things were very good and no pay raise. I think you get it.

If that cut goes through I'll get my things in order and that letter will go from word processor to paper to supervisor.

I think I'll be far from the only one.
