Description: Proposed for an existing shopping plaza on 11.28 acres at the northwest corner of Ocala Road and West Pensacola Street, the project calls for the removal of the existing facade and the installation of a revised canopy structure with a lightweight metal fascia designed to unify the shops within the plaza and provide a consistent face to the center. Current and future shop tenants can expect a consistent look to their exterior spaces, whether they are a small, single-bay storefront or a larger multiple-bay anchor. Seating and dining areas are planned along the canopy walkway. A landscaped meandering pathway will be provided to address ADA needs as well as offer circulation for patrons. New landscaping will provide a refreshing contrast to the asphalt parking lot everyone has grown accustomed to.
The project also proposes the addition of approximately 40,275 square feet of retail and restaurants (including two drive-thru restaurants) along Ocala Road and West Pensacola Street.
The property is zoned PUD 114 (University Village PUD) and is located within the MMTD (Multi-Modal Transportation District). According to the architect, the plaza will be rebranded Ocala Corner.
