Description:Architect's narrative - The goal of the project is to replace two antiquated and run-down existing buildings located in Downtown Tallahassee with a new progressive environment consisting of two adjoining structures, one housing commercial functions and one housing three residential levels for guests and the Owner. The buildings will provide a forum for the incubation of ideas for local businesses and academia, an environment capable of fostering unique creative experiences. Arrival from Park Avenue will be through a two story open garden area leading to glassed multi-story lobby and stairs connecting elegantly to the upper floors of both structures, allowing visibility to and from Park Avenue. The western two story structure was designed for commercial use, housing a reception area (open to and from East Park Avenue), a multi-purpose classroom and/or /incubation open area adjacent to an eating/snacking area, a playroom (pool table), a kitchen or lounge and private glassed offices for full visual contact with surroundings. A resources and/or media room, an exercise room, showers and lockers will also be housed within the western structure. The eastern three story structure was designed for residential use above a small parking area on the ground level. The second floor will consist of a suite for guests, experts or clients with an open living room overlooking Park Avenue surrounded by a kitchen, bathroom suite, dining, bedroom, walk-in closet and a large deck overlooking East Park Avenue. The third and fourth floors will consist of a suite for the Owner with an open living room surrounded by a kitchen, bathroom suite, dining, bedroom, walk-in closet and large decks overlooking East Park Avenue in addition to office and conference areas for work. Green roofs with patio areas will crown both the commercial and residential structures.
