Ugh. Northwood 2.0 here we come. Hopefully it won't end up full of bat guano. At least Dreamland and Urban Food Market will probably see some more business from all the office employees on lunch break.
Unfortunately, there has been a number of ingress points for wildlife into the Centre so I would not be surprised to find out that there already is a healthy amount of excrement in the southern end of the retail part of the mall.

I'm guessing folk in corporate AMC wish they could get a do-over for the renovations and contract extension they did. I'm also guessing their legal department is going over that lease for any way out (if they don't have one already). The Park Place Outlet Mall does have a big chunk of 'entertainment' space listed in some of its earlier site plans. Might work well to have AMC move there.

Based on the most recent reporting in the Democrat, it looks like pretty much all the empty retail space, plus some retail space currently in use is slated to become state offices as more agencies are looking to get into the Centre. Also article mentioned that the original idea was the brainchild of the owner who passed away so that the current Centre management have a different direction, which is get ANY kind of tenants in there.

Well it has begun. Small retail shops in north end of Centre being given their walking papers. Looks like they weren't even given an opportunity to stay. I have to believe Belk and AMC will look to get out as well because no one is going to causally 'retail shop' or 'go to the movies' in a state office building complex.

On the flip side this will revive the weekday lunch crowd for the surrounding restaurants.

Northwood Part Deux is go!! (good news there is a bat house already on premises so that 'might' alleviate bat pooh in the attic) :x

According to reply from Stone Age on their Facebook page, everyone on the north end of the Centre except for Belk and AMC.

And if the whole of the north end of the mall (everything north of the entrance by Dreamland) is state offices, except for Belk and AMC, there is zero reason for them to stay there. They will be completely lost behind the bulk of the office complex and pretty much no one will want to go there during the day during office hours.
