BRIEF – Downtown is set to get a new high-end Italian Restaurant. A future concept that will be unique to Tallahassee and brought to us by the owners of the highly acclaimed Sage restaurant.

According to reports, business partners Terry White and Craig Richardson, owners of Sage, have inked a deal with the Brian Ballard, CEO of Ballard Partners. Ballard is the owner of the new 6-story contemporary office tower recently built at the southeast corner of Monroe and Park Avenue and has been rumored to be courting a high-end restaurant for the ground floor retail space of his iconic new downtown office building.

Talks of chains such as Ruth Chris Steakhouse have swirled in the UrbanTallahassee message boards for some time, but according to an article published today, Ballard notes, “I’ve known Terry a long time and, in my heart, I always wanted it to be local.”

Local architects, Lewis + Whitlock, share the details of the restaurant design inspired by the view of the city’s “Chain of Parks”, and it’s growing downtown environment. The south dining room will offer a view into the open kitchen area, while the elegant “linear” bar area will be a major focal point. Complete with old world touches, the nod to Italian inspiration will be evident in the rich paint colors, the Italian marble floors, and of course – the wine. Offering outdoor seating overlooking the lush parks, and offering top of the line dry-aged steaks, the upscale restaurant is sure to be a great destination to bring out of town guests to showcase downtown Tallahassee.

In late August, WTCV shared with us the much-anticipated name of Tallahassee’s newest steakhouse, Il Lusso, which translates to ‘luxury’ in Italian.
